Ajax duo Urby Emanuelson and Johnny Heitinga have both withdrawn from the Holland squad to face Russia.
Sunday's 4-1 win over rivals Feyenoord came at a cost for the Amsterdam giants with both defenders suffering blows which will see them miss Wednesday's international friendly.
Highly-rated left-back Emanuelson has picked up a knee injury, with defensive companion Heitinga suffering a thigh problem.
Now Marco van Basten has been deprived of both players in the build-up to the Russia game.
The Oranje coach also lost Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar to a broken nose on Sunday, with Feyenoord's Henk Timmer called up in his place.
