Sparta have swelled their ranks with the capture of Greek striker Yannis Anastasiou.
The forward was informed by Ajax that he could move on and this led to Sparta making a contract offer to the powerful 33-year-old.
The initial proposal did not meet favour with Anastasiou and it was suggested that the deal would founder.
However, a fresh sponsor stumped up some extra funding and this allowed the club to offer an acceptable deal to the forward.
Anastasiou has signed a two-year deal and the club will hope he justifies the outlay next season.
