Ajax keeper Hans Vonk has confirmed he will not be joining PSV Eindhoven in the summer.
Rumours swept through the Netherlands which suggested the South African veteran had agreed a deal with the PSV paymasters.
Departing coach Guus Hiddink was quoted as saying terms were on the cusp of being agreed, but this prompted a riposte from Vonk who has now confirmed he will be heading for a different challenge.
The 36-year-old seems certain to return to his native South Africa, with Supersport United and Ajax Cape Town set to battle it out for his services.
Hiddink's announcement of his departure has prompted Michael Lamey to confirm he will wait until the club appoint a new coach before making a decision on whether he will sign a new deal.
PSV will lose the services of Archie Thompson in the summer, with the forward, who joined the Dutch club recently to keep his fitness levels up ahead of the World Cup finals, set to return to his native Australia at the end of the season.
