FC Groningen have come to an agreement with Ajax to sign Rasmus Lindgren on a permanent deal.
Ajax signed the Swedish Under-21 midfielder in 2003, but the player has failed to make an impression at the club, making just five appearances.
Groningen took the player on loan from the Dutch giants at the start of the season, and having impressed in the midfield, they decided to open negotiations with his full-time employers.
Lindgren's deal with Ajax does not run out until 2007 but the player is no longer in the club's plans and will move to the Stadion Euroborg in the summer on a four-year deal.
"He is a young talented player who exactly fits in our policy," said general director Hans Nijland.
"It says something about the stability and ambitions of the club that FC Groningen succeeded in signing a player of this calibre from Ajax."
