Ajax coach Danny Blind is fashioning his squad for next term but reports are suggesting he may have to work without Maxwell and Rafael van der Vaart.

Reports are suggesting the key duo have indicated they want to head out of Amsterdam in search of a fresh challenge and with the pair almost into the final year of their contracts, Ajax may opt to cash in.

Van der Vaart's stock has slipped slightly following a disappointing campaign, but he is still extremely highly rated on the continent and is unlikely to be short of offers, while Maxwell (pictured) is one of the most talented wing backs in Europe and there is likely to be a summer scramble for his signature.

Although two key names may depart, Blind is confident Tomas Galasek and Steve Pienaar will extend their contracts.

Talks are expected to take place in the near future, but the signs are suggesting the pair will stay on provided their demands are met.

Blind also expects veteran keeper Hans Vonk to sign a one-year contract in the near future.
