Ronald Koeman made the trip to Norway to run the rule over Marcus Rosenberg.Ajax boss Ronald Koeman made the trip to Norway on Thursday to run the rule over striker Marcus Rosenberg.
Koeman is eager to bring in a new striker and has been linked with a whole host of names in recent weeks.
The Dutchman has looked at Borussia Dortmund forward Jan Koller and Werder Bremen marksman Angelos Charisteas, but he is keen to explore other avenues.
Rosenberg has been under Ajax's gaze for some time and Koeman made a personal check on the 22-year-old in Malmo's clash with Brann.
The striker netted Malmo's goal but it remains to be seen if the youngster did enough to prove himself worthy of a contract at Ajax.
Rosenberg felt he performed well in the Royal League clash, as he said: "It went okay, but neither I nor the side made a good match. I scored a goal and could have scored another.
"I hope Ajax build an impression of what they have seen over the whole season."
Ajax, meanwhile, have been informed that South African Steve Pienaar will not play again before the winter break as his knee injury continues to cause concern.
Young striker Ryan Babel has returned to full fitness, while Johnny Heitinga and Tom de Mul are expected to figure in the near future.
