Mido pledges future to Ajax

MIDO has attempted to end speculation regarding his future by pledging himself to Ajax.

The forward`s long-term future at the Amsterdam ArenA had been thrown into doubt in September when he said that he was looking to move on.

The teenager has since settled his differences with coach Ronald Koeman and is enjoying his football at Ajax.

Speaking to Sportsweek, the Egyptian said: "If I have the choice between several top clubs, then I will always choose the Ajax of Ronald Koeman.

"I am still under contract for three seasons at Ajax and I see a lot of possibilities for us.

"Compare the players with last season: Van der Vaart? Better! Maxwell? Better! Chivu? Better! Galasek? Better! Trabelsi? Better! Bergdolmo? Better! Van der Meyde? Better!

"Also when I look at myself, I see a better player than last year at this time.

"Everybody has become better."

Mido is hoping Koeman can keep the squad together, as he added: "I can only hope that nobody leaves. I especially hope that Chivu stays. He is very important, maybe the most important player of this team."

There appears to be an air of contentment around Ajax, with reports in Holland suggesting star midfielder Rafael van der Vaart is considering signing a new deal.

The youngster has burst onto the international scene, prompting teams from Italy, Spain and England to cast admiring glances the way of Amsterdam.

Van der Vaart is currently sidelined through injury, but has reportedly said that he would be happy to sit down and talk to the board about a new deal.
