Van der Vaart (pictured) has resumed training following the midfielder's knee ligament injury that has kept him out of action since the start of September.
The 19-year-old tore his ligaments during a Euro 2004 qualifier, although an operation was not needed on the problem.
Van der Vaart hopes to make his return on November 12 in the home game in the Champions League against Internazionale, although coach Ronald Koeman is less optimistic.
Meanwhile, young defender Heitinga will leave to go to America this week for surgery on his left knee.
The 18-year old will be operated on his torn knee ligaments by specialist Richard Steadman in Colorado.
Heitinga sustained the injury during the league game against NAC on September 29 of this year, and it is not the first time he has suffered from injury after previously having two operations on his knee.
