Ajax moved to the top of the Eredivisie table after beating FC Utrecht 3-2 in the early kick-off.

The Dutch giants were ahead inside seven minutes as Gabri struck past Michel Vorm in the Utrecht goal.

Johnny Heitinga doubled Ajax's advantage just before the break which looked to have secured them a comfortable win.

Gregoor van Dijk pulled one back from the penalty spot with ten minutes remaining before being dismissed for his second bookable offence three minutes later.

The excitement intensified when Marc-Antoine Fortune levelled the scores in the 85th minute but Utrecht were unable to hold on for a point as Kenneth Perez (pictured) restored Ajax's lead with three minutes remaining.

AZ Alkmaar survived a scare to maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign against bottom club ADO Den Haag.

Richard Knopper fired Den Haag ahead inside five minutes but the lead lasted just a few minutes as Danny Koevermans equalised for the hosts (10).

Michael Mols restored Den Haag's lead (39) and AZ Alkmaar were thankful for Kew Jaliens' goal 20 minutes from time for ensuring there was no shock at the DSB Stadion.

Three goals in the final ten minutes saw FC Groningen edge a seven-goal thriller against Vitesse Arnhem.

Anduele Prijor put Vitesse ahead (2) at the Stadion Euroborg, only for Yevgeny Levchenko to level the scores on 37 minutes.

Youssouf Hersi's second-half double (55 & 79) appeared to have brought an end to Groningen's unbeaten start, until a stunning fight-back by the hosts.

Koen van de Laak's penalty (81) and Luis Suarez (87) levelled things up at 3-3 before the latter scored his second and Groningen's winner in the final minute.

Pierre van Hooijdonk's second-half strike gave Feyenoord a 3-2 home win over NAC Breda.

An early goal from Maceo Rigters (13) was cancelled out by Danny Buijs for the hosts (33) before Mike Zonneveld (37) put NAC back in front.

Nicky Hofs pulled Feyenoord back level just before the break before van Hooijdonk fired the winner on 63 minutes.

Heerenveen and PSV Eindhoven played out a 0-0 draw at the Abe Lenstra Stadion, both sides drawing for the first time in the current campaign.
