AZ Alkmaar and RKC Waalwijk maintained the tempo at the top of the Eredivisie.

AZ Alkmaar and RKC Waalwijk maintained the tempo at the top of the Eredivisie table with wins on Saturday.

Both sides have perfect records after three games, with AZ romping to victory at Vitesse Arnhem and RKC taking all the points on their travels at NEC Nijmegen.

AZ's victory was emphatic, with Shota Arveladze netting twice in the 5-0 win at Vitesse.

The former Rangers man was put in the shade by team-mate Kenneth Perez who mopped up the other three goals in the romp.

RKC were made to work harder for a 3-1 win at NEC.

They took an early lead through Rick Hoogendorp, but they were reeled in when Andrezj Niedzielen netted just after the hour.

RKC are on a high at present and they pressed on to claim the points thanks to goals from Benjamin de Ceulaer and Jochen Janssen.

Sparta Rotterdam claimed their first win and points of the season when Ricky van den Bergh netted the only goal of the game against NAC Breda.
