A late goal from Joris Mathijsen helped AZ Alkmaar move through to the last 16 against Alemania Aachen.
Alkmaar were held to a 0-0 draw by the German minnows in the first leg - but after an early scare emerged victorious in front of their own fans.
It was Aachen that stunned the Almaarder Hout crowd, when former Liverpool striker Erik Meijer grabbed an opener.
However, Barry van Galen levelled on 62 as the hosts began to take control.
Mathijsen grabbed the crucial winner ten minutes from time, but not before Thomas Stehle had been sent off for the German side after a second yellow card.
AZ face Shakhtar Donetsk in the next round - with the Ukrainian side knocking out Schalke.
