Ajax increased their lead at the top of De Eredivisie to 12 points after a hard fought 1-1 draw with AZ Alkmaar.

The opening goal of the game at The Alkmaarderhout came after 64 minutes when Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic - making his comeback from injury - netted, after Tomas Galasek's free kick.

Just when Ajax looked set for victory Olaf Lindenbergh netted for AZ and grabbed a share of the spoiles for the home side.

Champions PSV Eindhoven look to have almost certainly relinquished their crown after going down to a shock 3-1 loss at Willem II.

After a goalless first period the home side went ahead just after the interval when Tom Caluwe pounced.

With 16 minutes left PSV were left with a mountain to climb when firstly Bart van den Eede scored Willem's second and then Kevin Hofland was sent off for two yellow cards.

PSV rallied and pulled one back through Johann Vonlanthen, but Willem again came at the holders and van den Eede grabbed his second to make it 3-1.

Feyenoord close to within a point of PSV after they claimed a 2-0 success over Roda at De Kuip.

Goals in each half from Thomas Buffel (17) and Dirk Kuyt (58 pen) was enough for the Rotterdam giants to claim victory.

FC Groningen secured a 1-0 win over Twente at The Oosterpark Stadion.

Mile Krstev's goal on the half hour sealed the win for the home side.

Volendam remain bottom of the table after a 2-1 defeat to Utrecht at The Veronica Stadion.

The home side took the lead just after half time when Jack Tuyp struck.

Utrecht, though, kept up their hopes of a top-six finish alive as they grabbed the win with two goals in ten minutes.

The first came from Sander Keller (61), before Ruud Kras put through his own net.
