Feyenoord's hopes of securing third place in De Eredivisie were dealt a crushing blow when they were thumped at home by AZ Alkmaar.

AZ moved into third with the victory which was set up by Kenneth Perez's shot on 23 minutes.

The visitors did not rest on their laurels and went further clear seconds after the interval when Ali Elkhattabi headed home.

The victory was sealed on 67 minutes when new signing Denny Landzaat slotted home a penalty.

Roda reinforced their claims for a spot in Europe with a solid 4-1 win at RBC Roosendaal. Sergio netted the all-important first and Aroune Kone doubled the advantage on 69 minutes.

Ramon Luyten briefly gave RBC hope with a goal on 83 minutes, but late efforts from Kevin van Dessel and Ivan Vicelich put Roda beyond recall.

ADO Den Haag lifted themselves out of the bottom two with a fine 3-1 win over Groningen.

The win owed much to Regillio Simons who netted a brace, with the other coming from Roy Stroeve. The victory was all the more notable as Groningen had taken the lead on 25 minutes through Sander van Gessel.

RKC Waalwijk and Heerenveen played out a 0-0 draw, while Utrecht and Willem II shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

Willem II twice took the lead through Raymond Victoria and Romano Denneboom, but Utrecht dug deep and goals by Stefean Tanghe and a last minute strike from Donny de Groot secured a point.
