UTRECHT are aiming to hijack AZ Alkmaar's plans to hang on to the services of PSV Eindhoven defender Michael Lamey.

The 23-year-old linked up with AZ during January's transfer window to gain valuable first-team experience.

Lamey is highly-rated by PSV and the Dutch table-toppers do not want to offload the stopper on a permanent basis.

PSV had given AZ permission to keep Lamey for next season after firmly establishing himself in the side at Almaarderhout.

But AZ's Eredivisie rivals Utrecht want to nip in before any contracts are signed and take Lamey on next term.

Lamey is flattered by the interest but is in no rush to commit his future to either club.

"I'm having a great time at AZ," Lamey told De Telegraaf. "But Utrecht is also a fantastic club. I'll see."
