DAVID CONNOLLY appears to have rejected Feyenoord's latest contract offer by jetting off on holiday and allowing the deadline imposed on his decision to lapse.

The Rotterdam club had offered the striker a lucrative multi-year deal but, having impressed in Holland, Connolly is believed to want to try his luck elsewhere.

It would appear that Roda JC are now out of the running for the Irish star, believing his wage demands too excessive, which would leave AZ Alkmaar as the only interested club able to offer the same level of contract to Connolly.

Michael Kennedy, the representative of both Connolly and Roy Keane, stated that, despite his client going on holiday, he still wanted to stay with Feyenoord, although how the club reacted to this is not yet known.

A transfer back to England, with clubs in the First Division and Premiership interested, has been rumoured.

Indeed, Connolly himself stated he was not worried about a new deal as he had plenty of options.
