Georginio Wijnaldum has ambitions of securing a move to a top European side - and insists the Premier League is an option.
The PSV captain, who has been linked with Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle in recent months, could lead his side to their first Eredivisie title in seven years on Saturday if they can defeat Heerenveen, live on Sky Sports 5 HD.
However Wijnaldum, who signed a new four-year contract in August, is open to leaving the club and exclusively told Sky Sports he wants to play for a "great club" in a major European league.
“I am happy at PSV but I am a player with a lot of ambition,” Wijnaldum said. "I want to play in a stronger league than the Eredivisie.
“With my quality I feel I can bring a lot to a team that I will join. I want to show it in the big leagues; England, Italy, Spain, Germany and France.
“It depends on how I feel. When I feel I want to go, I will do it. It is difficult to say when I want to go, if a great club come in for me then I will think about it.
“Being the captain does not affect my decision. I have learnt from it, but there is no guarantee that I will stay because I am captain.”
When I feel I want to go, I will do it.
Wijnaldum’s 16 goals in all competitions this season have seen him emerge as a key part of the Netherlands squad, where he plays alongside several Premier League stars.
And it is conversations with his English-based Netherlands team-mates whilst on international duty that has opened Wijnaldum’s eyes at the prospect of a move to the Premier League.
"I see a few games. I look at the big clubs and the ones not so big," Wijnaldum added.
"I speak with Leroy Fer and Tim Krul about England a lot. Tim has been in England since he was 17. He only says good things about England and living in Newcastle.
"The stadium is big with 50,000 people, the fans are great and life is great there.
"You have better players and teams in England, and for myself it is better to play in a better league against better players."
