Serbian playmaker Dusan Tadic is looking forward to a new chapter in his career after signing for Southampton on Tuesday.

Tadic is new Saints boss Ronald Koeman’s first purchase, following his arrival for a fee in excess of £8m from Dutch club FC Twente.

The 25-year-old signed a four-year deal at St Mary’s, as Koeman reshapes the Southampton squad ahead of the new season.

England internationals Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert have all left, following the exit of former boss Mauricio Pochettino.

But Tours striker Andy Delort is said to be on Koeman's radar as well as Lorient defender Bruno Ecuele Manga, who could be seen as cover for unsettled Dejan Lovren, who has been linked with Liverpool.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Tadic said: "Everything I heard about Southampton was nice and I know that they want to play good football.

"Also the coaches are the Koeman brothers and I have already worked with the conditional coach so it will be a pleasure to work with them all at Southampton.

"Mr Koeman was a big influence on my decision to move to the club. We spoke a couple of times and I know from his days with Feyenoord that he is a very good coach.

"I know Southampton have lost a few good players over the summer but I believe they will find some new players as they are the kind of club who make players much better and sell them for a really good price."

Tadic, who has scored 16 goals in the past two seasons, refuses to set personal targets but is confident he will play a major role for the team next season.

"Although I never think about goals and assists, I believe in my skills and I just want to play good and be important for the team... then everything will be ok."
