PSV Eindhoven did their great rivals Ajax a huge favour in the Dutch Eredivisie title race by beating second-placed FC Twente on Saturday night.
While PSV are 12 points off the pace and seemingly too far back to be considered serious contenders for silverware this season, they can still have an impact on the destiny of the league trophy by taking points off the contenders.
They claimed a 3-2 win over FC Twente thanks to goals from Santiago Arias, Jurgen Locadia and Jetro Willems, with Quincy Promes and Kyle Ebecilio replying.
It meant Ajax's four-point cushion at the top of the table remained intact, ahead of the Amsterdam side's match at PEC Zwolle on Sunday.
Feyenoord joined Twente on 43 points thanks to a 5-1 win over NEC Nijmegen in which Graziano Pelle and Jean-Paul Boetius both scored twice. In the early stages, Lex Immers had cancelled out the opener from NEC's Soren Rieks.
Doke Schmidt and substitute Jarchinio Antonia scored for Go Ahead Eagles in a 2-1 home victory over AZ Alkmaar, with Roy Beerens netting a 90th-minute consolation.
A pair of substitutes, Adnane Tighadouini and Stipe Perica, scored to give NAC Breda a 2-0 victory over Roda JC.
