Feyenoord winger Jean-Paul Boetius has been ruled out for the remainder of the season and also looks set to miss this summer's European Under-21 Championships after undergoing surgery on his knee.

The 19-year-old was successfully operated on this morning by an orthopaedic surgeon to repair damage in the outer meniscus of his knee after he injured himself during training last week.

The recovery after the surgery is expected to take three or four months which means Boetius would miss the Under-21 European Championships finals which take place in Israel in June.
