A review of Tuesday night's action in the Dutch KNVB Beker, including a shock defeat for VVV-Venlo. Eredivisie side VVV-Venlo were the major casualties in the second round of the KNVB Beker, losing on penalties at second-tier Go Ahead Eagles following a 4-4 draw. Two goals from Brian Linssen had put VVV in control after 38 minutes but Jop van der Linden and Joey Suk scored to force extra time. Uche Nwofor netted twice for the visitors in the additional 30 minutes - the second a last-gasp equaliser after Marnix Kolder and Suk looked to have assured th Eagles' progress. However, it was only a temporary reprieve for VVV as the hosts kept their nerve to win 4-3 on spot-kicks. Elsewhere, RKC Waalwijk proved far too strong for Topklasse side Lisse, easing to a 5-0 away win with two goals from Teddy Chevalier and further strikes from Rodney Sneijder, Nourdin Boukhari and an Imad Najah penalty. PEC Zwolle, bottom of the Eredivisie with no wins from their first six games of the new season, prevailed 1-0 at top-flight rivals Roda JC thanks to Fred Benson's extra-time winner. Excelsior were one of four Eerste Divisie teams to lose against lower-division opposition, going down 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at fourth-level amateurs ONS Sneek. Oss lost 2-1 after extra time at Topklasse strugglers Scheveningen, for whom Samir El Moussaoui scored a 118th-minute winner. Hollandia beat Fortuna Sittard 1-0 and Almere City crashed 4-1 at ADO '20 with Benny Kleine scoring twice. Sparta Rotterdam, meanwhile, overcame a 2-0 deficit to sink fellow Eerste Divisie side AGOVV 3-2, while De Graafschap avoided a shock with Donovan Deekman's stoppage-time strike giving them a 3-2 win at amateurs Sparta Nikjerk. Eindhoven needed extra time to win 4-2 at Topklasse JVC Cuijk with two goals from Soufianne Dadda, while Den Bosch triumphed 1-0 at AFC and Staphorst won their all-amateur clash with Montfoort 2-0.
