Midfielder Gianluca Nijholt has joined Russian outfit Amkar Perm from Eredivisie side FC Utrecht.
The 22-year-old, who had one year remaining on his contract with Utrecht, joins a club who are currently ninth in the Russian Premier League after seven games of the new season.
Nijholt made his debut for Utrecht at the age of 17 but failed to establish himself as a regular in the team, making just 40 Eredivisie appearances over the next five years.
He came through the youth academy with the Dutch side and becomes the first player from Western Europe to feature for Perm.
Amkar Perm previously attempted to sign RKC Waalwijk's Ard van Peppen, but the left-back snubbed the wages on offer in Russia to remain in the Eredivisie.
