Vitesse Arnhem closed the gap on the top-six after easing to a 2-0 win over Heracles on Friday evening.
Vitesse took the lead early on at the Gelredome with Ivorian international Wilfried Bony on target.
Things then went from bad to worse for the visitors as goalkeeper Remko Pasveer was sent-off.
And things could of been worse as Vitesse had a penalty on the stroke of half-time to double their lead but Bony failed from the spot.
The win was sealed just after the hour when Ecuadorian Renato Ibarra pounced.
