Eredivisie leaders AZ Alkmaar have received a boost after midfielder Maarten Martens returned to action in a reserve match on Monday night.
The Belgian had been sidelined since September with an ankle injury but helped a young Alkmaar side to a 1-0 victory.
He had been due to return last week but picked up a slight thigh knock which prolonged his time out.
"He's come through it well and has no more problems," youth coach Dennis Her told AZ's official website.
"You can clearly see that his creativity really adds something to the team."
