Brazilian-born forward keen to obtain Dutch passport

Heracles Almelo striker Everton Ramos da Silva has revealed he hopes to change his nationality from Brazilian to Dutch. Fellow Eredivisie player Douglas of FC Twente was granted a Dutch passport last week after the Brazilian-born defender completed his naturalisation procedure. Everton, who has played for Heracles since 2006, says he has already set the wheels in motion to follow Douglas' lead. "I am working to get Dutch nationality," he told Voetbal International. "I want to be Dutch. We are engaged in the necessary documentation." However, while Douglas has made no secret of his desire to play for the Netherlands national team, 28-year-old Everton insists that is not a factor for him. He added: "No, I'm not thinking about that. The Oranje has enough good strikers and in Heracles, where I'm under contract until 2013, it suits me fine." Everton plans to stay on in his hometown of Ootmarsum even after his contract with Heracles expires. "We want to stay in the Netherlands. We've been here so long," he said. "We like the peaceful life in Ootmarsum. We're happy with our family."
