PSV defender Erik Pieters claims English clubs have shown an interest in signing him, and feels he is ready for an overseas move.

The 22-year-old, who arrived in Eindhoven three years ago, only recently penned a new deal with the Eredivisie giants to keep him at the club until 2014.

But after missing out on UEFA Champions League football with PSV this season, Pieters admits his future is uncertain and says there has been interest from elsewhere.

"From England, there was interest," he told NUSport. "I have to wait and see what comes my way.

"I have grown over the past years. I think I could step in now."

Hungry

PSV could only manage a third-placed finish in the Eredivisie this season, missing out on the chance of Champions League football to Ajax and FC Twente.

Netherlands international Pieters admits he is hungry to dine at Europe's top table after coming so close this year.

"I yearn greatly for the Champions League," he added. "This tournament offers a little extra club.

"It brings you closer to the level of the Dutch (national) team."
