Top scorer puts goal heroics down to fitness
FC Twente striker Marc Janko feels his recent scoring prowess is a result of his improved fitness.
The Austria forward is Twente's top scorer so far this season and currently sixth overall in the Eredivisie with eight goals after notching a brace during last weekend's 4-2 triumph at NEC.
And the 27-year-old, who arrived in Enschede from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer, admits shedding some excess weight has boosted his ability in front of goal.
"Earlier this season I was four or five kilos too heavy," Janko told Dutch paper De Telegraaf.
Transition
"The transition to the Dutch food was a problem for me.
"I'm a player who physically must be 100 per cent in order to perform and I felt myself (getting) too heavy.
"The extra weight cost me sharpness.
"For some time I focused on my diet and I am now at my ideal weight. Hopefully that provides more goals."
