FC Twente will be without No.1 goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov for their trip to NEC Nijmegen on Saturday evening.
The Bulgaria international picked up a knee injury during the reigning Eredivisie champions' 1-0 UEFA Champions League defeat at Inter Milan in midweek.
And Twente head coach Michel Preud'homme has confirmed the former Liverpool shot-stopper has failed to win his race for fitness ahead of this weekend's clash.
Preud'homme told the club's official website: "Nikolay is being plagued by a minor knee problem ever since the match against Inter.
"He was unable to take part in Friday's regular training session and won't play against NEC."
Veteran keeper Sander Boschker will take over the gloves in Mihaylov's absence.
The 40-year-old has made over 500 league appearances for Twente over two separate stints at the club, but has fallen down the pecking order under new coach Preud'homme.
The Enschede outfit currently sit second in the standings, three points adrift of leaders PSV Eindhoven.
