Parkinson pleased to bring in defender's versatility

Charlton Athletic have signed versatile defender Marcel Seip on loan until January from League One rivals Plymouth Argyle. Addicks boss Phil Parkinson has brought in Seip ahead of Thursday's loan deadline after losing Christian Dailly to a four-match suspension. Seip has made 11 appearances for Plymouth this term and had loan spells at Blackpool and Sheffield United last season. He will go straight into Charlton's squad for Tuesday's game against Bristol Rovers and Parkinson was happy to secure the 28-year-old's services.

Important

"With Christian suspended and the loan window closing on Thursday, it was important we moved quickly to bring Marcel in," Parkinson told the club's official website. "He's a defender who can play right-back and centre-back, and we just felt we needed another player like him in the squad. "He wants to get some games here, and we look forward to working with him. He goes straight into the squad for the Bristol Rovers game." Dailly starts his four-match ban on Tuesday after Charlton opted not to appeal the red card he was shown in Saturday's game against Yeovil Town.
