Eredivisie table-toppers Ajax have received a welcome lift with the news Vurnon Anita's injury is not as serious as first feared.
The 21-year-old left-back was forced off with a leg injury during the Dutch side's 1-1 UEFA Champions League draw with AC Milan in Amsterdam on Tuesday night.
Coach Martin Jol was initially concerned Anita would face a lengthy spell on the sidelines, but further investigation has shown he is only expected to miss a few weeks.
"We feared a fracture, but it is a bruise," Jol told Dutch television station AT5. "Knowing Vurnon, he will be playing again quickly."
Ajax host FC Utrecht in Eredivisie action on Sunday, and will enter the clash having had 48 hours' more rest than their opponents, who take on Liverpool in the Europa League on Thursday night.
