Ajax manager Martin Jol is confident of finalising a deal to bring in Demy de Zeeuw.
AZ Alkmaar have rejected an initial offer of €4million (£3.4m) for the midfielder but Jol is set to return with an improved bid.
De Zeeuw has made it clear that he wants to join the Amsterdam giants and Jol hopes to complete a move quickly.
"We have said that we want to sign De Zeeuw, we are willing to spend quite a lot of money and I hope that we will have the green light next week," the former Hamburg and Tottenham boss told AD Sportwereld.
De Zeeuw is currently recovering from a knee injury and was left out of AZ's pre-season defeat to Hamburg on Wednesday.
