Twente star signs on

Twente ace Karim El Ahmadi has agreed a new deal with the club.

Twente ace Karim El Ahmadi has agreed a new deal with the club.

It is the second time in the last 12 months that the Moroccan youth international has been handed an extension.

He is now committed to the club until 2011, which has seemingly put an end to speculation linking him with Feyenoord.

"For the club it's fantastic that we can keep players of this kind," said coach Fred Rutten.

Meanwhile, Twente have confirmed that Patrick Gerritsen requires another operation on his leg.

The 20-year-old suffered a double fracture last September and needed a pin inserting.

However, he has now damaged the pin during a pre-season friendly and will require fresh surgery which will again sideline him for a number of months.

Twente have also confirmed that assistant coach Rene Eijkelkamp has left the club to pursue business interests.
