Swedish full-back set to secure switch to one of Europe's top leagues

Oscar Wendt's agent claims his client is close to finalising a summer switch which will match his ambition. The Sweden international currently plays his club football in Denmark with FC Copenhagen. His time in the Danish capital has allowed him to pick up domestic honours and grace the UEFA Champions League, but he wants to test himself in one of Europe's top leagues. It appears that he will get that wish in the not too distant future, with a host of clubs believed to be chasing his signature. Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move in the past, while Feyenoord and Marseille are also reported to be in the hunt. Wendt's representative has refused to specify which sides are in the running, but has confirmed that a deal is in the pipeline.

"There are several large clubs interested in Oscar, but I have no comment to make until something is signed," Niclas Jensen told Expressen. "It could be that a deal is done within the next few weeks." Wendt is set to become a free agent in the summer, having opted against penning fresh terms with Copenhagen. Jensen is confident he will get to fulfil his dream of turning out on a grander stage, but has admitted that the 25-year-old is unlikely to join one of Europe's biggest clubs. "We are talking about big leagues, but we are not talking about the top two or three clubs," he added on TV2.
