Borussia Monchengladbach coach Jupp Heynckes has been dealt another injury blow, with left back Filip Daems the latest casualty.
The former Genclerbirligi defender has been struggling with achilles tendon problems for some time, and has now been sent for surgery to repair the problem.
Heynckes has already been starved of first choice full back Marcel Jansen because of the young German international's knee problems, and now Belgian Daems is not expected to return to action before the winter break.
The loss of Daems has been made even more severe by the exit of veteran Jorg Bohme, who left for Arminia Bielefeld in the summer.
With Wolfsburg the next visitors to Borussia Park on Saturday, Heynckes is set to employ either youngster Marvin Compper or Norwegian Hasan El Fakiri to fill the void on the left side.
