Danish defender Bo Svensson has joined Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach six months earlier than expected.

The Foals announced on Tuesday that the FC Copenhagen star will start training at Borussia Park next week after the Danish league leaders agreed to let him move during the January transfer window.

Svensson had originally signed a three-year deal with Gladbach from July 2006, but due to long-term injury problems in the Foals' defence, coach Horst Koppel has decided to bring the defender to the club six months early.

Gladbach are enjoying an impressive season in Die Bundesliga, the club are usually amongst the relegation strugglers, but they are currently in seventh position just two points off a Uefa Cup spot.
