Wolfsburg manager Klaus Allofs has confirmed the club are interested in signing FSV Mainz forward Eric-Maxim Chupo-Moting.
The Cameroon international will be available for a Bosman transfer by the end of the season should he not renew his contract, which is due to expire in June 2014.
Chupo-Moting joined Mainz from Hamburg in 2011 before going on to score 11 goals in 49 appearances for the club.
Despite the 24-year-old only managing one goal in seven Bundesliga starts this term, Allofs admitted Chupo-Moting could well feature on their list of desired players.
"We have put up a long list of players we might sign in those next transfer window periods," he told Allgemeine Zeitung.
"I feel Eric-Maxim [Chupo-Moting] could well be on it."
However, prior to Allofs registering interest in the striker, Mainz boss Thomas Tuchel expressed his intention to hold on to the highly-rated international.
"It is obvious we do not want Eric-Maxim [Chupo-Moting] to leave at the end of the season," he said.
"We feel we are a good club for him and his ambitions. We think we are a club able to offer him a good future career."
