Mainz have announced the signing of Denmark international midfielder Niki Zimling from Club Brugge on a four-and-a-half-year deal.
The 27-year-old has put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at the Coface Arena until June 2017, with the deal believed to be worth around £1.75million.
Zimling is being viewed as a replacement for Poland international Eugen Polanski, who departed for Bundesliga rivals Hoffenheim on Friday.
Mainz manager Thomas Tuchel told the club's official website: "Niki Zimling is a player fully suited to central midfield.
"He has a lot of football skills and also physical strength. He has played regular internationals for his country and is also known for playing in Europe at club level."
Zimling added: "Mainz is a great team that plays well-organized football.
"I have been given a good impression from my chats with manager Thomas Tuchel. The decision to move to this club is a good decision for me."
