Mainz general manager Christian Heidel has insisted the club are willing to extend the contract Elkin Soto.
The Colombia international's current deal is set to expire next summer and that has led to speculation he could be sold in January.
But Mainz are ready to offer the 32-year-old a new contract in order to keep hold of one of their first-choice midfielders.
Heidel told spox.com: "Elkin Soto has our perfect appreciation.
"He became a full part of this club a very long time ago. We are definitely out to sign a new contract with Elkin Soto to ensure he stays on at our club."
