Alemannia Aachen striker Szilard Nemeth has been released from hospital.
The former Middlesbrough man was taken to hospital five days ago and later diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism.
Aachen team doctor Alexander Mauckner explained that a calf muscle injury had triggered a thrombosis and an embolism.
"The situation was life-threatening," Mauckner told the club's official website.
Nemeth has been ruled out of action for six months.
