Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt insist that Nicklas Bendtner remains an option for them, despite claims he is in talks with Aston Villa.

Bendtner is a free agent after leaving Arsenal and he has been linked with a number of sides, but Frankfurt, who tried to sign the player last season, remain on his trail.

The 26-year-old is reported to favour staying in England, with Villa now favourites for his signature, but Frankfurt remain keen.

"We already had good rounds of talk with (Nicklas) Bendtner last season," general manager Bruno Hubner has told Hessischer Rundfunk.

"His name is in our head and he can well imagine doing a deal with Eintracht Frankfurt as far as I am concerned.

"There is no deal and nothing concrete, still Nicklas Bendtner is definitely a transfer option."

Meanwhile, Frankfurt are also said to be closing on a deal for Fiorentina's Khouma El Hadji Babacar, who spent last season on loan at Modena.

The 21-year-old's agent Patrick Bastianelli said: "Eintracht Frankfurt is out to sign Khouma Babacar. Bruno Hubner has been in negotiations with Fiorentina as well as with me.

"The club (Eintracht Frankfurt) has a good new manager in Thomas Schaaf. Thomas Schaaf has proved at Werder Bremen he is a quality manager!"
