Switzerland midfielder Tranquillo Barnetta says his team did not deserve to progress to the next round of the World Cup finals.
Ottmar Hitzfeld's team needed to beat Honduras by two goals to go through at the expense of Spain in their final Group H match, however they could only muster a draw.
The 0-0 stalemate in the Free State Stadium was a dour affair containing few chances and Barnetta said their inability to open up the minnows was evidence they deserved to go home early.
Ultimately, the Swiss finished third in their group and were unable to build on their shock win over Spain in their opening match - leaving the Bayer Leverkusen star to rue a lack of quality in his country's ranks.

Barnetta said: "I really don't know what was wrong with us. We battered away at them, but we couldn't find the killer pass.
"We all need to take a good, hard look at ourselves, because we need to be making more chances against a team like Honduras.
"They have a few problems in defence but our final passes were poor, so we did not deserve to go through."
Switzerland's win over the Spaniards had heightened hopes they could make a shock progression to the knockout phase.
But they suffered a defeat to Chile - who went on to the finish second in the group - and the blank with Honduras saw them come up two points short.
The prospect of needing a two-goal win heaped pressure on Hitzfeld's players, according to Hakan Yakin, who admitted his side were simply not good enough to go through.
The 33-year-old striker said: "We sensed a little bit of tension in the dressing room before the game but we were a long way from buckling under pressure.
"We knew exactly what we had to do in order to get through, but unfortunately it's not worked out.
"It's not that we were simply unlucky. We've come up short due to our limitations."
