English clubs track Paraguay international

Paraguay international Nelson Valdez could be set for a move before the World Cup, with a host of English clubs leading the chase. Skysports.com understands that the former Werder Bremen man is on the radar of several teams. The 26-year-old forward, who can play in attack or midfield, is currently with Borussia Dortmund. But after nine years in the Bundesliga Valdez looks as if he could be on the move. Valdez first arrived in Germany in 2001 with Werder Bremen, where he enjoyed some excellent times, including a title in 2004. Now Valdez, who will start for Paraguay at the World Cup finals this summer, is looking at his options with a number of Premier League clubs ready to bid.

Interest

He has two years left on his current contract at the Signal Iduna Park. His English representative Barry McIntosh has confirmed to skysports.com that a move to the Premier League is very much an option. "We are looking to do something before the finals," McIntosh told skysports.com. "It is tremendously exciting to be able to work on a player like Nelson as he is a terrific footballer. I have moved a number of South American players in recent years to England, but he would be amongst the best. "We don't envisage a problem in sorting the details of a move to England - but we are aware that because of the likelihood of Paraguay having a good World Cup finals, prices for their players could rise significantly. "So with that in mind we are pushing the case and although I can't reveal names at this stage, there are number of clubs who have already expressed an interest."
