Newly-promoted Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt have signed Swiss international Benjamin Huggel from Basel.

The 27-year-old midfielder signed a three-year deal at the Commerzbank Arena on Monday after the clubs agreed a reported fee of around ‚é¼550,000.

"The move to Frankfurt is the next important step in my career," explained Huggel.

Huggel, who has won 14 caps for his country and was part of the Swiss Euro 2004 squad, joins his countryman Christoph Spycher at Frankfurt.

Meanwhile, Eintracht executive Heribert Bruchhagen has confirmed that he has met Kaiserslautern striker Ioannis Amanatidis to discuss a possible move.

The two parties have held preliminary talks, but with the Greek international still under contract a potential transfer is a long way from completion.

"Nothing has been signed yet," Bruchhagen stated.
