Manchester United target Mats Hummels considering Borussia Dortmund future

Mats Hummels says his Borussia Dortmund future will become clearer over the next few weeks as he considers his options.

The German centre-back gave an interview in Kicker magazine last week in which he demanded a stronger Dortmund team for next season, otherwise he may consider his own future with a host of Europe's top clubs linked wth the player.

Jurgen Klopp's team currently sit tenth in the Bundesliga and seem certain to miss out on a place in the Champions League next season while they may not even qualify for the Europa League, and Hummels has admitted again he may not be sticking with the club for much longer.

"That doesn't mean that I am leaving, it just means I'm reflecting," he told Sky television following a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich at the weekend.

"There's no particular tendency one way or the other. It's just thoughts going through my mind. It will all become clearer in the coming weeks."

Manchester United were reportedly willing to offer up to 40 million euros for Hummels services and are expected to lead the summer interest - and once the window reopens Dortmund may struggle to reject such an offer if they cannot count on Champions League football and the finance it brings next season.

The 26-year-old has two years remaining on his current contract and in 2007, when he moved to Dortmund from Bayern, he turned down an approach from Hoffenheim putting it down to a "gut feeling" and revealed he will be led by similar feelings this summer.

"It's going to be the same again this time," Hummels added.
