Borussia Dortmund striker Cedric Van der Gun will be out of action for six months after tearing cruciate ligaments in Sunday's win over Cologne.

The recent Dutch signing hobbled out of the clash following a challenge by Cologne's Youssef Mokthari just minutes after coming on as a substitute.

BVB club doctor Markus Braun confirmed on Sunday the 26-year-old had torn the ligament in his right knee and will now be sidelined until March.

It could be a double blow for Dortmund boss Bert Van Marwijk as South African striker Delron Buckley is also facing injury problems after twisting an ankle on Sunday.

Dortmund face an anxious wait on Monday as the club hope Buckley has not done major damage to his ankle.
