Wolfsburg's general manager Klaus Allofs has expressed his delight after long-serving defender Marcel Schafer signed a new contract.
Schafer joined Wolfsburg from 1860 Munich in 2007 and has agreed a new deal to stay at the Volkswagen-Arena until 2017.
There is also an option for the 29-year-old to take up another role with Wolfsburg once he retires from playing football.
Allofs told the club's official website: "We are delighted to have agreed a new contract with Marcel Schafer.
"Marcel Schafer is an important part of the club and the new agreement was substantial for him, as well as for us."
