Former Hertha Berlin star Marcelinho could be set for a surprise return to the Bundesliga, with Wolfsburg believed to be interested in the Brazilian midfielder.
The Wolves are desperate to find a new playmaker as new signing Julio Dos Santos is sidelined until March with a broken fibula and a move for the unsettled Trabzonspor ace could offer Wolfsburg coach Klaus Augenthaler a way out of his current predicament.
The 31-year-old spent five successful years in Berlin before he left the capital club in a é¼2.5million (£1.7m) move last summer.
But rather than challenging for the Turkish title, Trabzonspor are stuck at the wrong end of the table and Marcelinho fuelled speculations that his days in Turkey are numbered by hinting that he is ready for a new challenge.
"I could imagine a move to Wolfsburg, maybe it turns out to be the case," he told Kicker.
