Wolfsburg have handed young midfielder Cedrick Makiadi a new extended deal at the VW Arena.

The 22-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a new three-year contract keeping him at Wolfsburg until June 2010.

The rising star's previous deal would have ended in 2007 and the Congo-born striker was glad that both sides quickly agreed to continue their co-operation.

‚Ç£I am proud of the faith the club has in me and I'll continue to give my utmost to show the fans successful football,‚Ç¥ claimed Makiadi.

The youngster joined the Wolves in 2002 from lowly VFB Lubeck and sealed his breakthrough last season when his decisive goal on the final match day against Kaiserslautern kept Klaus Augenthaler's side in the Bundesliga and condemned the Red Devils to relegation instead.

Augenthaler expressed his happiness that Makiadi had pledged his future to Wolfsburg.

"I'm delighted for both the club and myself that we will be able to carry on working with Cedrick," said Augenthaler.

"He has already shown what he can do both from a skills and tactical point of view.

"I hope that he will continue to develop the way he has done so far."
