Dutch striker Rick Hoogendorp will join Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg after a medical on Friday.

The 31-year-old RKC Waalwijk forward has agreed a deal through to June 2009 with Wolves' bosses and will be officially presented at the end of the week.

"I'm delighted to have got a striker whose experience and ability in front of goal will be of great value to us in the coming months," said new VfL boss Klaus Augenthaler on Thursday.

Hoogendorp has netted 10 goals in just 14 league matches for Waalwijk this season and his signing could prove crucial as the ambitious north German club attempt to pull clear of relegation trouble after a slump in form before Christmas.

"We've got a player who speaks German and will have no trouble getting integrated," said Wolves general manager Klaus Fuchs.

"Hoogendorp was a team leader at his club and so not only important for the goals he scored.''
