VFL Wolfsburg have been devastated by the news that striker Diego Klimowicz will miss the next six weeks of the season.

Klimowicz has scored 16 goals this season, and it appears that any hopes of Uefa Cup qualification have disappeared along with the talented Argentine forward.

Wolfsburg currently lie seven points adrift of the Uefa Cup spots in the Bundesliga, and the goalscoring responsibility will now fall heavily on Klimowicz's out-of-favour replacement, Thomas Brdaric.

Klimowicz is set to undergo surgery on his troublesome left foot later this week, after a medical check-up revealed the situation was worse than first thought.

However, there is some comfort for Klimowicz, as it has been confirmed that top doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt will carry out the operation.

Some of Europe's top players, including Ronaldo and Michael Owen, have been treated by the highly-rated Wohlfahrt in the past.
