WOLFSBURG coach Jurgen Rober has slammed his team after they lost in the InterToto Cup final to Perugia.
The Serie A side triumphed 2-0 in the second leg at the Volskwagen Arena after holding a narrow one-goal advantage from the sides' first meeting in Italy.
Wolfsburg's cause was not aided by an early Giovanni Tedesco strike for Perugia followed by Pablo Thiam being red-carded just before the interval.
Diego Klimovicz missed an early chance to level the tie for the Bundesliga side and rounded off a miserable personal performance by being sent-off in the second half.
"I don't have a clue how he (Klimovicz) managed not to score," fumed Rober.
"We managed to put them under some pressure early on, but then allowed the smallest player of them to head home, that's unbelievable."
The former Hertha Berlin boss added: "I can't say the players did not try hard, but in many situations they were just too naive."
